"Divining the Body" February 24-March 1, 2008

During EDAW health care providers, educators, social workers, family members, students and eating disorder professionals work to teach people of all ages about the importance of promoting positive body image as well as raise awareness about the dangers of eating disorders and the need for early intervention and treatment by distributing educational materials and organizing events in their communities.

Our mission is to reach thousands of individuals with messages about healthy body image, balanced eating, and the seriousness of eating disorders. We stand to prevent eating disorders and body dissatisfaction while reducing the stigma surrounding eating disorders and improving access to treatment.

This year our theme is "Divining the Body." We are sending the message that everyone is beautiful inside and out. We will be having two events on UCSD campus.

Tuesday, February 26, 11am-3pm:

On Library Walk at UCSD we will have a display, handouts, interactive art and many knowledgeable and passionate volunteers. Stop by and learn more about eating disorders, including what to do if a friend has an eating disorder, 10 steps to positive body image and healthy boundaries.

Thursday, February 28, 7pm-8pm:

In Price Center at UCSD we will be having a Candlelight Vigil. Let us come together to have a moment of reflection honoring our awareness of body oppression!
