The Healthy Within Foundation is a young, ambitious non-profit foundation. We are a 501(c) Non-Profit Foundation (Tax ID# 74-3069281). The Foundation gave birth from the dire need that has emerged in the community to have more aggressive prevention programs. Since Healthy Within was not able to meet all the emerging prevention needs of our community, we created the Foundation to solicit donations so that we can have more extensive outreach efforts.
The Healthy Within Inc. Treatment Program has had a tremendous amount of success in the community in the last 7 years by conducting numerous prevention seminars at local high schools, middle schools and all the colleges here in San Diego. We have a traveling exhibit called "Room with a View" which has been very successful. It depicts the evolution of an eating disorder and makes a very dramatic impact on what the pressures are that make a person vulnerable to an eating disorder. Additionally, the staff at Healthy Within conducted over 100 presentations in the last one and a half years and we hope to continue to be even more ambitious in the future. Dr. Divya Kakaiya, the Founder of Healthy Within has presented numerous seminars to other psychologists, physicians and health care professionals both locally and nationally.
The Foundation has been set up to start more direct prevention services in the community such as the "Go Girls Program" created by NEDA and more aggressive prevention programs. We have been conducting a program called Girl Talk at local middle schools and have had over 230 girls successfully go through the program!!!
We have an ambitious goal of conducting additional education services to medical students, nurses, school counselors, life skills teachers and parents.
Donations to the Foundation are welcome and we will be happy to answer any questions you may have. Every penny you give goes directly to the prevention efforts. Currently we have no paid staff at the Foundations level and EVERYTHING is done by volunteers.
